1. SCOPE

The materials defined by these specifications are formable, non-heat treatable 5XXX series (magnesium based) autobody aluminum sheet alloys. Four distinct variants are identified: A1 & A2 define two strength levels of low magnesium structural alloys that have to be capable of limited Class-1 exposure (e. g. A-pillar), while A3 & A4 define two categories of higher magnesium alloys with medium strength and high formability, suitable for closure inners and reinforcements. Furthermore, these alloys may be supplied bare or pretreated. Specification WSS-M10P12-A1 shall be used where pretreatment is necessary to promote durable structural adhesive bonding. Pretreated material may be supplied, at the supplier's option and expense, even when not explicitly specified in the material requirements.
