1. SCOPE

The materials defined by these specifications are formable, non-heat treatable AA 5xxx series (magnesium based) autobody aluminum sheet alloys. Four distinct variants are identified: A1 & A2 define two strength levels of low magnesium structural alloys that have to be capable of limited Class-1 exposure (e. g. A-pillar), while A3 & A4 define two categories of higher magnesium alloys with medium strength and high formability, suitable for closure inners and reinforcements. Furthermore, these alloys may be supplied bare or pretreated. Specification WSS-M10P12-A1 shall be used where pretreatment is necessary to promote durable structural adhesive bonding.
