1 SCOPE.

This specification covers the performance and qualification requirements for Class I rigid, exterior, etch resistant base coat/clear coat systems. Materials approved to this specification are comprised of waterborne basecoat and high solids, solvent-borne clearcoats. They may require different processing (such as nitrogen blankets or higher bake temperatures) as compared to standard acrylic melamine basecoat/ clearcoat systems, and they are more resistant to acid etching and water spotting.
