This specification describes the requirements for a high durability exterior, low gloss, blackout/accent two (2) component (2K) solventborne topcoat for use on exterior painted parts or blackout areas on vehicles. Products that are approved to this standard have a target bake of 82 °C (180 °F) and typical bake range of (82 to 135) °C ((180 to 275) °F).

Purpose/Material Description.

These topcoats are part of a total pained product system and must meet the requirements set forth in this specification and those shown on Engineering Drawings. This specification shall be used in conjunction with GMW14797, Painted Plastic Parts Performance Requirements for plastic parts or GMW14669, Organic Coating Performance for Exterior and Interior Metallic Components for metal parts.
