This specification describes the requirements for a high durability exterior, low gloss, blackout/accent two component (2K) solventborne topcoat for use on exterior painted parts or blackout areas on vehicles. The topcoats perform over a bake latitude of 82 °C to 135 °C (180 °F to 275 °F). Products approved under this specification are bake-on-bake only. Wet-on-wet materials are approved under 9984842. 

Material Description. These topcoats are part of a total pained product system and must meet the requirements set forth in this specification and those shown on engineering drawings. This specification shall be used in conjunction with GMW14797, Painted Plastic Parts Performance Requirements for plastic parts or GMW14669, Organic Coating/Finish Performance for Exterior and Interior Metallic Materials for metal parts.
