1 Scope

This specification covers rollcoated or extruded tape adhesives suitable for bonding oily galvanized, or CRS steel automotive parts or panels. These tape materials are not weldable.

1.1 This material shall be compatible with produc tion phosphatizing, ELPO and topcoat systems, and shall not be adversely affected by bake tem peratures up to 204 °C.

1.2 This material shall be supplied on a release liner, either as a diecut part, or on a continuous roll. The tape shall be easily removed from its liner without sticking or stretching. The material shall have adequate tack to adhere to oily production metal substrate to facilitate assembly of the parts without displacement of the adhesive material.

1.3 The adhesive to intended to expand and cure in the heat of the ECoat paint ovens. The resulting adhesion of the material to the substrate, following the cure, shall render an adhesive strength that is in all conditions, greater than the cohesive strength of the cured material.
