This standard covering Metric Hex Bolts conforms in all essentials with the American National Standard, ANSI B18.2.3.1M - Metric Hex Cap Screws, and recognizes the M10 size with 15.0 mm hexagon width across flats which differs from the IS0 Standard M10 size having a 16.00 mm head width. However, bolts of all sizes conforming to this standard are considered to be functionally interchangeable with bolts produced to the IS0 4041 standard and shall be specified for all new metric designs.
