This specification defines the adhesion requirements of exterior trim that is attached to painted or non-painted substrates. These requirements also include weatherstrips and seals that are tape attached. The adhesive system is typically a double-coated foam, or elastomeric tape.
Emblem and nameplate adhesion using either a double-coated foam tape, or an adhesive transfer film is covered in GM6271M.
Decal adhesion is covered in GM6073M.
The adhesion requirements of exterior trim using a non-pressure sensitive adhesive are covered in GM3601M.

Double-coated foam, or elastomeric tapes shall meet the requirements of GM3802M for the appropriate type.
The requirements of this standard shall be met over all production intent paint systems, or mold-in-color plastics.
