1 Scope

This specification covers the requirements latex foam weatherstrips used to seal automotive body openings, i.e., doors and roof rails. The latex foam weatherstrip is used most successfully as a door mounted seal. The latex continuous molding process is able to produce a seal with changing cross-section size. This an advantage when the door cannot be sealed with a constant section. Above the belt line latex foam seals are used successfully as body side seal for hardtops and convertibles. Latex can be molded into the complex shapes needed for these seals.
