1 SCOPE.

This standard covers a group of single component, self-curing, anaerobic, polyester compounds which remain liquid as long as they are exposed to air and solidify by polymerization (not solvent evaporization) without significant shrinkage when confiied between closely fitted metal parts in the absence of air. Such compounds are intended to provide effective seal against leakage and shear strength resistance to loosening, when used in the assembly of threaded, slip-fit, and press-fit parts. (Appendix lists typical applications for each compound.) This standard makes no attempt to cover the effectiveness of such compounds for controlling torque-tension relationship of threaded fasteners under production conditions. Specific compounds are identified by "grade" numbers which are appended to the basic material number, as follows: "GM6013M Grade XXX". If released as a specific part and quantity, use the bulk material number.
