This standard describes the test procedure to determine the ability of a double coated tape to overcome mismatch between exterior trim and the body sheet metal mating surface. This procedure can also be used to compare one tape to another.

Mismatch conditions sometimes exist between exterior body panels and tape attached parts such as appliques, roof ditch moldings, body claddings, and large injection molded body side moldings. This mismatch condition results in a low frequency, low angle peel stress on the tape.
