Purpose. This specification defines the electrical, mechanical, environmental, reliability and durability performance and validation requirements for generators used in all GM global common passenger car and light duty truck applications.

Applicability. This specification is applicable to all global common generators used in GM passenger car and light duty truck vehicles and is intended to promote uniformity of application across all future GM passenger car and light duty truck vehicles.

Remarks. Generators are used in vehicles to supply the electrical system with electric energy and to recharge the battery.
