Purpose.

This specification describes the component level Physical Layer and Communications validation tests that are required of High-Speed (HS), Mid-Speed (MS), and Low-Speed (LS) Controller Area Network (CAN) bus devices connected to the in-vehicle CAN networks.

Note: Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) testing is not described in this specification, except crank pulse and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). ESD testing for GMW14241 requirements should be coordinated with testing of GMW3097 ESD, Remote Inputs/Outputs (3.6.2) and ESD, Handling of Devices (3.6.3).
