Purpose. The purpose is to determine if the front and rear bumper systems protect the vehicle when subject to the impact testing defined in:

• Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Regulation (FMVSR) Code of Federal Register (CFR) 49 part 581, as amended in the Federal Register, September 23, 1983 (March 27, 1995)

• Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 215 as amended in the Canada Gazette, December 26, 1979 (September 18, 1996)

• Korea Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (KMVSS) 93 as amended December 30, 1995 (February 25, 2003)

• European Commission Europe (ECE) R42; October 9, 1980

• Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) 41
