Purpose. The purpose of this procedure is to test the customers jump start procedure, jumper cable clearances, and the voltage characteristics on vehicle electrical systems.

Foreword. The procedure is used for either the evaluation or development of GM Jump-Start Information and to verify the function of the vehicle electrical system as a whole when subjected to a jump start voltage. This test is limited to a 20% State-of-Charge (SOC) battery installed on a vehicle to represent a typical run down battery.

Applicability. This test applies to each engine application, using different jump start locations, on all electrical validation vehicles used by GM.
