Purpose/Material Description.

This standard specifies the requirements for high wear resistant polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and/or graphite lubricated polyamide-imide (PAI) based plastic materials for friction-wear applications. The materials are an injection moldable thermoset and require post-molding cure. All requirements specified herein are for fully cured materials unless otherwise noted.

Symbols.

The material abbreviations according to ISO 11469 are shown in Table 1.

Applicability.

Typical applications of these materials include transmission rotating seal rings, thrust washers or other wear and sealing applications where medium to high load (high pressure-velocity) resistance, high heat resistance, good fluid resistance, and low wear/low friction coefficients are required.

Remarks.

None.
