1. SCOPE

This specification covers thermoplastic elastomers of the TPV (Thermoplastic Vulcanizate) type to ASTM D5538, or more specifically FCTPV (Fully Crosslinked TPV) to ASTM D5046. They consist of vulcanised (crosslinked) EPDM rubber particles (circa 1 micron) dispersed in a polypropylene continuous phase. The hardness range is achieved by adjusting the content of the soft EPDM as well as oil-extension of the EPDM. The material is supplied in compounded form suitable for injection moulding, extrusion and blow moulding operations where parts having good flexibility and a high degree of weathering resistance are required. A varying degree of oil resistance is provided, ranging from very limited at the soft end of the range to very good for the harder grades.
