HOLDEN HN 2355 PDF

This specification covers thermoplastic elastomers of the TPV (Thermoplastic Vulcanizate) type to ASTM D5538, or more specifically Highly Crosslinked Thermoplastic Vulcanizates (HCTPV's) to ASTM D6338. They consist of vulcanised (crosslinked) EPDM rubber particles (circa 1 micron) dispersed in a polypropylene continuous phase. The hardness range is achieved by adjusting the content of the soft EPDM as well as oil-extension of the EPDM.

The material is supplied in compounded form suitable for injection moulding, extrusion and blow moulding operations where parts having good flexibility and a high degree of weathering resistance are required. A varying degree of oil resistance is provided, ranging from very limited at the soft end of the range to very good for the harder grades.

Grades are available where further enhancement of UV resistance is required, particularly for exterior applications. These are identified with a "U" suffix in the approved materials database and are not listed separately in the property tables. In principle, technology is applicable for U-suffix materials for all HN2355 types, but in some instances may not be readily commercially available.
