Practical definitions are stated for:

(a) a one-shot device (see 4.1);

(b) reliability of a one-shot device (see 6);

(c) maintenance of a one-shot device (see 7).

This Part of Defence Standard 00-42:

(a) addresses the R&M aspects of one-shot devices and one-shot systems;

(b) augments Def Stan 00-41 on the practices and procedures that should be adopted for assuring that one-shot devices and one-shot systems achieve their required R&M;

(c) supports the needs of contractors, MOD Project Managers and end users.

It is emphasised that this Defence Standard is a guidance document and shall not be contractual; unless specific clauses are cited in the contract.
