This Defence Standard presents an overview of some of the different types of reliability tests that can be applied to equipment and provides some high-level guidance on how they can be selected and used. The intent of this standard is to be identified in a contract to define the requirements for reliability testing.

This standard incorporates the following:

a) Accelerated Test

b) Reliability Growth Test (RGT)

c) Reliability Qualification Test (RQT)

d) Reliability Demonstration Test (RDT)

e) In Service Reliability Demonstration (ISRD)

This standard does not detail the statistical and managerial processes required for successful completion of the test, instead reference is made to appropriate standards.
