INTRODUCTION
This clause describes the tests that are required on the sources of auxiliary power fitted to an aeroplane (APU, EPU etc) to ensure satisfactory operation in Service. The tests are designed to cover all factors which can affect the functioning and operating characteristics of the auxiliary power source while on the ground and in flight. These include the influence of gearbox and accessory drives, and engine starting loads, on the operation of the auxiliary power source.
The object of these tests is to ensure that the installation and the functional characteristics of the auxiliary power source are acceptable for Service use.
This section comprises the content of Def Stan 00-970 Issue 1, Chapter 1002. It is intended to provide information similar to the content of JAR 25 Section J.
The relevant design requirements are contained in 00-970, Issue 2, Part 1, Section 1, Clauses 1.1 (General Requirements), Section 7, Clauses 7.1 & 7.4 (Climatic Conditions), Section 4, Clause 4.19(Pilots Cockpit - Controls and Instrumentation) and Clause 4.26 (Fire Precautions). See Section 2, Clause 2.1.1 Guidance. It is intended to include the relevant parts of these clauses in this clause at a later date.
