This NES specifies the equipment and fitting requirements for all types of lifesaving equipment fitted in HM Surface Ships, Craft and Boats. It includes:

allowances required for each Class of Ship;

position where fitted;

type of stowages required t o be provided.

Each item of equipment will be covered separately in its own section with main items identified by pattern or NATO reference number.

The NES lists relevant forms, together with associated BR'S, drawings, inspection, test certificates and other instructions plus any repairfacilities.
