This NES describes the minimum services and facilities to be provided by a Shipbuilder for the care and custody of Embodiment Loan Items (ELIs) issued for incorporation into ships under construction in accordance with a contract which provides for the issue without payment. ELIs were previously known as Admiralty Supply Items (ASIs).

NOTE: The accounting requirements set out in Annex A will apply where there i s no separate accounting agreement between the Ministry and the Shipbuilder.
