This Defence Standard (DEF STAN) and related documents apply to particular requirements for the design and performance of Static Conversion Equipment for HM Surface Ships and Submarines.
Static Conversion Equipment may be required in one of the following forms:
Converters — dc to dc;
Inverters — dc to ac;
Rectifiers — ac to dc;
Frequency Changers — ac to ac;
Voltage Regulators — ac to ac without change of frequency.
The System Requirement Document (SRD) shall specify the type of equipment required.
