a) This Defence Standard (Def Stan) and related documents apply to particular requirements for the design and performance of Static Conversion Equipment for Her Majesty's (HM) Surface Ships and Submarines.
b) Static Conversion Equipment may be required in one of the following forms:
Converters direct current, dc to direct current dc: dc to dc;
Inverters direct current dc to alternating current ac: dc to ac;
Rectifiers ac to dc;
Frequency Changers ac to ac with change in frequency;
Voltage Regulators ac to ac without change of frequency.
The System Requirement Document (SRD) shall specify the type of equipment required.
