This NES specifies the requirements for the provision, design and fitting out of the Health Physics Laboratories in Nuclear Submarines. It includes mandatory instructions and guidance information applicable to the laboratory and other areas likely to be affected by contamination due to accidental spillage of primary coolant samples. Health Physics stowage requirements extemal to the laboratories are also included.
This NES also covers the requirements for the provision of services, the installation of equipment and the inspections, tests and trials that are to be carried out by the appropriate authorities.
