This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for the manufacture, testing, identification and packaging, and quality assurance documentation for non-ferrous metric and unified threaded bolts, screws, studs, studbolts, nuts, and washers manufactured from:

⎯ NA13 Nickel Copper Alloy;

⎯ NA18 Nickel Copper Aluminium Alloy;

⎯ Nickel Aluminium Bronze;

⎯ Aluminium Silicon Bronze;

⎯ High Strength Copper Nickel Manganese alloy;

⎯ Aluminium Alloy;

⎯ Titanium;

for Non-First Level Quality Assured applications in Submarines, Surface Ships and services as defined in SSP 25.

The materials listed above are those most commonly used for naval fasteners. For particular applications other materials may be required. In such instances, the material composition and mechanical properties shall be in accordance with the relevant drawing or specification. Such fasteners shall in other respects satisfy the requirements of this Defence Standard.
