a) This Defence Standard comprises requirements and recommendations for the design of Corrosion Protection (CP) provisions for Seagoing Naval Surface Vessels and Submarines.

b) This document covers cathodic protection of the underwater hull, its attachments (such as rudders and propellers/propulsors), seawater ballast tank spaces and other tank spaces where cathodic protection is used. It is only applicable to seawater system inlets/outlets and sea chests up to the first valve.

c) This document is applicable to all carbon manganese / low alloy steel hulled vessels; it is not applicable to aluminium hull materials.
