This Standard specifies the requirements for the chromate passivation of brass articles. The purpose of the treatment is to clean and produce a level of passivation of the surface which resists staining by handling residues and atmospheric contaminants. It is normally intended as a final process before assembly or packaging. The passivation films produced are extremely thin and are not normally visible to the naked eye.
