This Standard specifies the procedures to be adopted in painting metal and wood surfaces of Service materiel. It also specifies the requirements for preliminary processes such as cleaning and preparation of surfaces.

It is emphasized that the procedures specified in this Standard represent good painting practice necessary to ensure satisfactory protection under normal Service conditions. Any concessions on the ground of economy or expediency will almost certainly lead to a reduced standard of performance in service.
