Introduction
This standard defines the technical procedures to be applied to Ministry of Defence (MOD) contracts for the procurement of Service aircraft, their installed and associated equipment, guided weapon (GW) systems and associated equipment, and specified electronic equipment. Contracts or specifications will, unless otherwise agreed, quote DEF STAN 05-12311 and the amendment state: where only limited portions apply, the relevant parts/chapters will be stated. These procedures may also be invoked for other types of equipment.
The requirements will not apply, unless otherwise spécified, to:
(1) Aircraft engines and certain of their accessories, for which complementary technical procedures are specified in DEF STAN 05-124, Procedures for the Procurement of Aircraft Engines and their Accessories, which supersedes AvP 115.
(2) Electronic equipment (post design) for which DEF STAN 05-125, Technical Procedures for Post Design Services (Electronics), are applicable.
Note: Where appropriate DEF STANS 0S-124 and 05-125 reflect the policy of DEF STAN 05-123/1.
In the event of any conflict between the requirement of a contract specification, the applicable contract and these technical procedures, the order of precedence shall be as follows:
(1) the applicable contract;
(2) the contract specification;
(3) these technical procedures.
Requirements that are mandatory are expressed by the word "shall" and those that are advisory or are recommendations by the word "should".
Reference in this standard to any related documents means in any invitation to tender or contract the edition and all amendments current at the date of such tender or contract unless a specific edition is indicated. See Chapter 001 - Alphabetical Subject Index, Appendix 1, for a list of these documents.
