a) This standard specifies the MOD requirements for batteries. This generic document combines with a series of supplements that contain the specific requirements relating to individual battery types. The requirements of these individual battery supplements shall take precedence over those of this standard where conflict arises.

b) The requirements governing the introduction of a new power source which may require the generation of a new battery supplement are defined in Defence Standard 61-017 (The Selection and Introduction of Batteries for Service Use).
