This standard addresses modelling and simulation as applied to the marine power systems community. A glossary of terms is defined to facilitate unambiguous expression of modelling standards. A system of standards is then defined and described in detail using that terminology. The purpose of this modelling standard is to provide a formal framework which those who acquire models can use to describe the requirements of those models succinctly and unambiguously.

This framework is not intended to be applicable just to a particular modelling environment, but should be applicable to all such environments.
