This Defence Standard specifies requirements for lead 2 , 4-dihydroxybenzoate ( lead ß-resorcylate) which is required to be substantially free from sodium and potassium salts, acetates and nitrates, for use in propellants.
The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established. Design Authorities requiring advice on particular applications should in the first instance contact the Directorate of Standardization, Stan 5, Kentigern House, 65 Brown Street, Glasgow 62 8EX for guidance.
