This Defence Standard specifiesrequirements for two types of degreasing compound.
Type A consists of a mixture ofsodium metasilicate and sodium hydroxide which, when dissolved in water, may beused for cleaning and degreasing metal components.
Type C consists of a mixture ofsodium metasilicate and sodium carbonate which, when dissolved in water, may beused for degreasing metals.
