This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for a multi-pack, cold-curing epoxy finishing paint with anti-slip properties and, if required, Infra Red Reflecting (IRR) properties.
The three Types differ in the composition and concentration of the aggregate used and each material is designed for application to designated external areas of service aircraft as specified in the aircraft drawings.
The paints may also be used as an emergency repair (‘patch’) of external coatings complying with Def Stan 80-210 and where the use polyurethane paint is prohibited for health and safety reasons (e.g. on board HM ships).
