This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for a fast evaporating surface cleaner suitable for degreasing and cleaning both painted, bare metal and pre-treated aerospace surfaces prior to painting. It is also suitable for degreasing and cleaning composites and plastic substrates (e.g. polymethyl methacrylate and polycarbonate). The surface cleaner complies with the UK Process Guidance Note PG6/45.

The surface cleaner is effective in removing fingerprints, oils, grease and general dirt and grime from dried cured paint surfaces, plastics, rubbers, sealants, composites, glass, as well as bare metals before and after chemical pre-treatment with conversion coatings. The surface cleaner can also be used to remove wet paint overspray.
