This standard family specification (SFS) specifies the requirements for Military Level packaging of electronic panels and equipment including those containing electrostatic discharge sensitive devices.

It is applicable for items up to 5 kg packaged to Military Levels P and N and items up to 2 kg packaged to Military Level J.

Only articles with a minimum fragility factor of 100gn are covered. Articles with a known fragility factor of less than 100 gn require a cushion designed package which shall be recorded on a Services Packaging Instruction Sheet (SPIS), see Def Stan 81-41 (Part 4).

Only articles with a Primary Packaged Quantity (PPQ) of one are covered.

Items with a Military Level of Packaging that meet this scope but deviate from it or are not packaged according to this standard shall require a SPIS Design to Def Stan 81-41 (Part 4).
