This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for a SAE 10W-30 grade of lubricating oil satisfying as a minimum requirement API CF-4/SG, (or equivalent ACEA grades), and Allison C3 plus Caterpillar TO-2. The oil is primarily for use as a crankcase lubricant in heavy-duty diesel engines. It is also for use in some gearboxes, automatic gearboxes, torque-converters, hydraulic and power steering systems, and in gasoline engines of ground equipment. The oil is for use at ambient temperatures above minus 20°C.
