Purpose
The purpose of this document is to give guidance when producing Commissioning Switching Programmes (C.S.P.)
An example of a C.S.P is enclosed in Appendix 1 for reference.
PURPOSE OF THE SWITCHING PROGRAMME
Scheme 15398 was sanctioned to uprate the 4 Heysham ring circuits to allow for increased load flows South from Scotland. The majority of the scope of this scheme relates to the reconductoring of the Heysham-Hutton-Penwortham 1&2, and the Heysham-Stanah- Penwortham 1&2 circuits. Work is also required on the circuit bays at Heysham and Penwortham substations. CT’s and VT’s are to be replaced at Heysham. Replacement of CT’s , VT’s , and uprating of the cross site 400kV cables is required at Penwortham.
The purpose of this programme is to cater for commissioning of the Heysham – Penwortham – Hutton 1 circuit following Line end CT replacement works at Heysham & Penwortham.
The circuit will be energised from Hutton via CB X120 and loaded at Penwortham on a cleared Reserve Bar using the Reserve Bus Section 2 CB (X260) & at Heysham on cleared main bar using Bus Section 2 CB (X220).
The key stages of the switching programme are:-
To energise the circuit from Hutton & Phasing out at Penwortham and Heysham
To put the circuit on load at Penwortham
To put the circuit on load at Heysham.
Carry out load and stability checks, on the feeder protection at all ends and Busbar Protection at Penwortham and Heysham.
DAR tests.
