This TGN provides information on the design of Skycradles and gives guidance for the planning of their use on motorways, other major roads and railways. Some observations are included on the recommended methods of installation and removal of Skycradles and associated equipment.

The requirement for Traffic Management and Skycradle Protection are interpreted in differing ways, depending upon the DTp Region concerned, Highway Authority and circumstances of the crossing. Users should refer to Paragraph 5.1 regarding the Authorities to be contacted: information on past practice in particular geographical areas may be obtained from the relevant NGC Area.
