PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This document forms part of a suite of documents which define the National Grid’s functional and performance requirements for new plant and equipment associated with electricity.

This Specification covers the requirements applicable to the re-utilisation of existing overhead transmission lines to be operated by National Grid at 132, 275 or 400 kV. These requirements shall also apply to new or replacement towers that will form part of the re-utilised line. This specification shall be applied to maintenance and reconductoring. It may also be applicable to Tee-offs, extensions or diversions to existing overhead lines being operated by National Grid subject to the requirements of the Project Specification.

This specification shall not apply to new or novel designs. For these requirements reference shall be made to TS 2.27.

In addition this specification includes any additional or unusual considerations applicable to schemes where refurbishment is limited to fittings only.
