PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This Technical Specification (TS) defines the functional, performance and testing requirements for a Static Compensator (STATCOM) for connection to the National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) system. This includes all types of Voltage Source Converter (VSC) based compensator technology.

The detailed Protection and Control (P&C) requirements for the STATCOM bay are defined separately in TS 3.24.99.

It does not include the switchgear connections to the High Voltage (HV) system, which are specified separately in TS 2.2.
