PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This document forms a part of a suite of documents which define National Grid’s functional and performance requirements for new plant equipment associated with electricity.

Conceived initially to improve visual amenity, the T-Pylon structures feature several innovations and key differences compared to traditional lattice towers. Specifically, the tubular tower sections, the cast structural components and the insulator arrangements require special considerations with respect to design, fabrication and assembly.

This specification covers the requirements applicable to the design of the new T-Pylon for double circuit 2 x 400 kV electricity transmission.
