PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This procedure describes the allocation of Numbering and Nomenclature to High Voltage Equipment on the National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) System.

It implements Grid Code requirement Operating Code (OC) No. 11 "Numbering and Nomenclature of High Voltage Apparatus at Certain Sites." In that:

• NGET HV Equipment on Users' Sites; and

• User HV Equipment on NGET Sites;

shall have numbering and nomenclature in accordance with the system used by NGET.

To ensure, so far as possible, the safe and effective operation of the total Transmission System and to reduce the risk of human error faults by requiring, in certain circumstances, that the numbering and nomenclature of Users' HV Equipment shall be in accordance with the numbering system used by NGET.
