This NB applies to the design of earthing and bonding systems for signalling apparatus affected by alterations to the existing OLE system or where new OLE is provided.
Purpose
To clarify the requirements for protection against a traction fault and the bonding of signalling apparatus: particularly in areas of new electrification using auto transformer or boosterless classic systems at 6kA or 12kA [fault current] and especially adjacent to traction power substations/power supply intakes in those systems.
