This document covers the selection of operational restrictions, to manage risks associated with failure of earthworks on the safe operation of the railway, and the rules for the implementation of various operational restrictions.
Purpose
Operational restrictions are implemented where the potential for risk to the operational use or safety of the track has been identified.
This document supports the control, ‘earthworks mitigation’, mitigating the following risks:
a) loss of track support or track geometry;
b) slope failure leading to loss of kinematic envelope or track geometry.
