All equipment owned or operated by Network Rail for the sole purpose of distributing 230V, 400V, and 650V a.c. (as illustrated in figure Q.1) to operational signalling loads shall be maintained in accordance with this standard.
Figure Q.1 shows the extent of the signalling power distribution system.
Examples of equipment installed in a signalling power distribution system that are covered by the scope of this specification are:
Trackside distribution feeders.
Auto-reconfiguration equipment.
Insulation monitors and protective devices including electronic relays, including those in the PSP.
Further guidance on the type of equipment and their associated functional responsibilities can be found in NR/GN/ELP/27310 Management of Signalling Power Supplies.
UPS equipment in such installations shall be maintained in accordance with NR/SP/ELP/27245.
Standby Generators shall be maintained in accordance with Appendix A.
Purpose
This appendix describes the periodic maintenance requirements for in-service signalling power distribution installations.
