This module:

a) contains the key principles for the management of biodiversity

b) prescribes the production and implementation of a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) including an Ecological Constraints and Opportunities Plan (ECOP) with content proportionate to the works that would take place

c) prescribes the methods that need to be followed when completing the PEA, including the responsibilities and competencies of the people involved in its production.

The module applies to:

d) all work on Network Rail controlled infrastructure undertaken by Network Rail, its contractors or other third parties

e) all work by Network Rail or its contractors that takes place outside Network Rail controlled infrastructure.

The module does not apply to emergency works undertaken by Network Rail, its contractors or other third parties, or work completed by lineside neighbours.
