This Network Rail standard specifies the minimum requirements of DPS for all Network Rail-rail vehicle maintenance depots including third party operated depots
and train presentation / train cleaning sidings.
DPS consists of:
• fixed system that gives permission for authorised and unauthorised rail vehicle movements within depot boundary.
• fixed system that gives protection in accordance to GE/RT/8000/TW1 and GE/RT/8000/T10 from rail vehicle movement, depot plant and energy systems
for people working within the depot.
• a method of warning for rail vehicle movement.

This document does not apply to DPS already fitted but shall apply when DPS are replaced, upgraded or fitted for new.
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to set out the minimum requirements for the design and installation of Depot Protection Systems (DPS).
DPS is designed to protect staff and equipment by ensuring the safe and controlled movement of rail vehicles within a rail vehicle depot.
The correct implementation of this standard provides a framework to ensure compliance with legislation and industry standards.
